Finally had our first real Baby Doctor appointment. And Daddy O witnessed all the loveliness we women go through on a yearly basis. He did well. After hearing about my blood work from a couple of weeks ago the Doc finally got down to business.
He skipped the abdominal ultrasound and went straight for the wand. Why mess around right. The room shifted from sitting to standing over me. Doctor and nurse between my legs, Daddy O hovering over my chest and I was surprisingly ok with my personal space bubble being demolished. Then suddenly there it was.
The Doctor pointed to its head and then said a few more words. Daddy O tried to figure out how that dot was a head then right as Daddy O was about to ask a question that little prune sized bean turned into a person. Hands waving, legs kicking and wiggles all over the place. Daddy O went quiet for a minute then more kicks and pictures later he was talking and we were laughing. Laughing mostly at Daddy O’s comments, you can only imagine… Wand, 4 people, a screen and no one paying attention to the girl on the table. That guy is funny.
Such a strange thing… not feeling anything, having only tiredness as my symptom and wondering if this was even real. To seeing this person bounce around a screen and feeling emotions for it. Having a tear run down my face and smiling so big my cheeks hurt. It is really amazing. The heart beat, the movement, the Life inside me. AMAZING!
